Today we celebrated World Book Day in our school. It was an exciting day in school as children came to school dressed as a character from a book. We started our day with a parade to show our fantastic costumes and our favourite books. Well done to all the boys and girls who put a great effort into dressing up today. We also had a visit from Jackie, a librarian from Thurles Library who read stories to each class and did activities based on characters and book reviews. 1st and 2nd Class enjoyed a book quiz in the afternoon and it was great fun! We had a great day celebrating our love of reading!

Food Dudes
Over the past few months we have been taking part in the Food Dudes initiative in our school to encourage pupils to eat fruit and vegetables every day. The children have made an excellent effort to bring fruit and vegetables everyday for their lunch. Well done everyone and keep up the healthy eating!

'MAths For Fun' in the Junior School

Today marked the end of 'Maths for Fun' for this year in the Junior School. The Junior School have tremendously enjoyed the 'Maths for Fun' every Tuesday morning for the last 4 weeks. The children had great fun playing maths games with their friends and have developed their mathematical skills. They really enjoyed rotating stations and playing a range of maths games over the four weeks. A sincere thank you to all the parents who volunteered over the last few weeks. Your help and support is greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to next year already!
Grandparents DAy

We had a wonderful celebration today in our school. We celebrated Grandparents' Day! It began with mass, followed by refreshments for the grandparents in the hall. Then grandparents had the opportunity to visit their grandchildren in their classrooms. We were delighted to welcome all the grandparents to the school and the children were thrilled to see them! Thank you to the Parents' Association for their help with the refreshments, to Fr. Lambe for a lovely mass and to Mrs. Hayes for organising the special day. A special thank you to all the grandparents for travelling from near and far to celebrate with us! We hope you all made wonderful memories with your grandchildren.

5th and 6th Class received their certificates today at our Christmas assembly. They have been participating in French lessons with Mrs. Hayes for this term. They really enjoyed learning French. Well done to everyone!

A Visit to the Crib

The boys and girls enjoyed a trip to see the beautiful crib in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Drangan. While we were there, we listened to the story of the first Christmas.

"Not Such a Silent Night!"

On Thursday 12th December, the children performed their nativity "Not Such A Silent Night!" in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Drangan. Their show explained how the stable in Bethlehem was a very noisy and busy place when Baby Jesus was born. All the animals joined in the celebrations as the angels, shepherds and Wise Men all arrived to see the very special baby, Jesus. Well done to all the boys and girls on their excellent performance of the nativity story. Everyone worked so hard in the rehearsals and their performance was brilliant last night! A special thank you to Mrs. Hayes, Ms. Campion and Ms. Dunne for all their hard work in directing the show.
Chess Club

First and Second Class pupils have been taken part in a 'Beginners Chess Club' every Wednesday over the last few weeks. They have great fun together learning how to play chess. Thank you to Mrs. Fitzgerald for providing the children with the wonderful opportunity to learn how to play chess.

Science Week 2024

There was lots of 'curious minds' and scientific learning this week in school. The children had great fun participating in experiments. 5th and 6th Class led exciting experiments in the Junior and Senior Infants' Room. The children had fun investigating shadows and the best insulator, the effect of soap on germs and how to make bubbles. Everyone really enjoyed Science Week!

This week we celebrated Maths Week in school. We had great fun using our Maths eyes, playing Maths games and going on Maths trails. We also enjoyed Maths stations in our classrooms too. We could see Maths all around us! It was great fun!
'Groovy Hands' Drumming Workshop

The boys and girls from Junior Infants to 6th Class enjoyed a drumming workshop with Dave from 'Groovy Hands' Drumming. They got the opportunity to play African drums and had great fun making music together! Everyone really enjoyed the drumming workshop!
A very warm welcome to our twelve new Junior Infant pupils who are settling in very well into their new school. We wish them a fun-filled, enjoyable and productive year. We hope they will make wonderful memories with their friends and teachers in the years to come.
